The 96th edition of the Kenya Music Festivals will take place at Moi Girls Eldoret from 2nd to 14th August. This year’s event promises to be grander, with performances touting rich cultural diversity in Kenya and the role of arts in economic growth.
Some of the expected themes include data protection, online content, social media, propaganda, and fake news. St Bakhita Chuka Girls will be represented by “Guuka Baite” to throw light on online data protection and issues surrounding it. The items were first presented during the school’s Annual Cultural Day that also saw coral verses, modeling, and folk songs. Principal Ms Joan Muchina proudly said that the school excelled with five presentations at the Eastern region music festivals at Mumbuni Boys High School.
This year’s festival theme, “Talent Development for the Growth of Creative Economy,” is in tandem with the government’s push to support and monetize the creative industry.
This has been disclosed by Executive Secretary Janet Langat, who said the event will be hosted at the Moi Girls High Eldoret from 2 to 14 August 2024. Regional level group 1, that comprised Central, Nairobi, Eastern, and Coast, concluded their festival on 6 July. Group 2, consisting of the Western Region, Rift Valley, Nyanza, and North Eastern, will hold theirs this week.
