Residents of Busia County are being urged to embrace Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs. Beatrice Nakholi, Busia County Executive Committee Member for Educational and Industrial Skills Development, spoke during a roadshow in Busia town, highlighting the benefits of TVET training.
“This approach allows learners to acquire valuable skills that can assist them in earning a living,” Nakholi explained.
She further addressed boda boda operators who work without driving licenses, encouraging them to enroll in driving courses offered by TVET institutions.
“If you operate a boda boda, this is the perfect opportunity for you,” Nakholi said. “Simply visit any of our TVET institutions and sign up for a driving course.”
The official emphasized the importance of TVET for Busia County’s development. “TVET equips individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to contribute to the county’s economy,” Nakholi stated. “This includes starting businesses that can create jobs and generate revenue.”
Busia County boasts seven TVET institutions, strategically located across its seven sub-counties: Bumbe, Bunyala, Butula, Okame, Chamasiri, Nambale, and Doctor Daniel Wako.
