In an effort to enhance achievements and ensure success, in the upcoming Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, Cardinal Otunga High School Mosocho has launched a comprehensive revision program for Form 4 students. Dubbed as ‘Trailblazers’ this initiative aims to tackle areas of weakness identified by students in studies by providing revision sessions guided by teachers who have completed the syllabus.

Insights into the ‘Trailblazers Program.
The introduction of the ‘Trailblazers revision program was led by Prof. Margaret Baraza, head of the Academic Committee and Associate Professor specializing in Applied Linguistics at Kisii University. Launched in 2021 this program has significantly contributed to enhancing the schools’ outcomes through its tailored focus, on areas where students traditionally encounter difficulties.
Prof. Baraza emphasized the approach adopted within the program which involves.
Identification of Weak Areas; Educators identify subjects and topics where additional support is required especially focusing on sciences, languages and technical disciplines.
Focused Revision.
- Students are given time to focus on these areas with their teachers overseeing their progress.
- Teachers offer help and encouragement to ensure students grasp concepts and stay on course.
Involvement of the School Community
At an event Captain Francis Omayo, who leads the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) expressed confidence in the programs ability to help the school reach a score of 11. He highlighted the teamwork among parents, teachers and students all striving to set a benchmark. Omayo also mentioned the special ‘Trailblazers T shirts given to candidates as a source of inspiration and motivation for them to excel.
Guidance and Backing
Principal Ezekiel Okeyo emphasized the importance of payment of school fees by parents to support both the program and overall school activities. He underlined how these financial contributions play a role in fulfilling the school’s mission of providing quality education and resources for students.
At the launch event for the program Dr. Matthew Odhiambo serving as guest encouraged students to maintain a mindset and put in dedicated effort. He stressed that hard work and focus are elements for achieving success, in their studies and future aspirations.
