Champions Agoro Sare Face Tough Draw in Nyanza Secondary Schools Games

Nyanza Secondary Schools boys’ football champions Agoro Sare, have drawn a tough group ahead of the regional championships slated for next week in Kisii County. The draw outcomes that were released by Nyanza Region Secondary Schools Sports Association Secretary Tom Odhiambo after a meeting at Kisii School, puts Agoro Sare in Pool ‘A’, which has been christened as the ‘Group of Death’. They are pitted against former champions Kisumu Day, Migori County champions Kodero Bara, and Ong’icha from Kisii County.

Pool ‘B’ also has Kisii champions Sameta High, Ambira from Siaya, Matutu PAG from Kisii, and Tonga High from Homa Bay. Championships will run from July 9 to 13 at Kisii School and Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho.

Girls’ Football

In the girls’ category, former champions Lwak Girls will open their campaign to recover lost glory in Pool ‘A’, pitting against Alara, Migori Education Centre, and Nyabisase. Current reigning champions Nyakach Girls will be in Pool ‘B’, together with Moremani, Nyambaria Geke, and Hawinga.

Volleyball Competitions

Some of the tight encounters to be witnessed include boys’ volleyball competition, wherein Pool ‘A’, it has Kisumu’s Nyabondo, Gogo, Etono, and Riokindo from Kisii County, while in Pool ‘B’ are defending champions Sagegi, pitted against Nyabisia, Chianda, and Onjiko School.

The champions, Nyakach Girls, will feature in Pool ‘A’ in the girls’ volleyball together with Ogande Girls, Kameji, and Kiabigoria. In Kisii County, three-time champions Nyakembene will square out against Ikonge, Koru, and a representative from Siaya County, who will be known after an appeal filed by Aluor Girls against Nyakongo for having fielded an ineligible player in the sub-county games is resolved.

Netball and Basketball Competitions

Oyugi Ogango of Siaya County who are the reigning champions in netball, are pitted against Lambwe, Omwari and others representing Siaya County. Nyakach Girls will square it out with Ayora from Kisii, Rirumi and Nyango. The Siaya county representatives will be known following an appeal that Wagai has filed against Kandaria.   • Pool ‘D’: St Angela’s Seng’era, St Barnabas, Manga Girls

According to Odhiambo, the rugby 7s draw will also go down at the venue. He was impressed with the state of the pitches and the work done after an inspection of facilities put in place at Kisii School, Cardinal Otunga, and Gusii Stadium.
