The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has officially released placement results for the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates. A total of 895,304 candidates qualified for placement in universities and colleges nationwide, reflecting a 2.8% increase from last year.
Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome, CEO of KUCCPS, shared that 85% of candidates with a C+ and above applied for placement. Of those who applied, 76.2% chose degree courses, while the remainder opted for diploma programs. In this year’s placements, around 134,743 students will be joining public universities, while approximately 18,558 are placed in private ones. Female students dominate placements in TVET institutions.
Checking Your KUCCPS Placement
Using Mobile Phone:
To check your KUCCPS placement, there are two methods. The first is through SMS. Open your messaging app on your mobile device, type in your KCSE Index number, and send it to the shortcode 20842. You will receive a reply containing details about where you’ve been placed.
SMS Method:
- Open the messaging app on your mobile phone.
- Create a new message.
- Type your KCSE Index number.
- Send the message to the shortcode 20842.
- Wait for a response with your placement details.
Checking Your Placement Online:
You can also check your placement online by visiting the KUCCPS Portal Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) portal. Use your KCSE Index number and your year of birth (or examination year) for the password. Then, you will see your detailed placement information.
Online Method:
- Open your web browser on your mobile phone.
- Go to the KUCCPS portal by entering the URL: KUCCPS Portal.
- Log in using your KCSE Index number and your year of birth or KCSE examination year as the password.
- Once logged in, you will be able to view your placement details.
