Julius Migos Ogamba Nominated as Cabinet Secretary Education Ministry Successor

President William Ruto has proposed Julius Migos Ogamba to be the new head of the Ministry of Education, subject to approval by Parliament. He was the running mate to Ezekiel Machogu in the 2022 Kisii gubernatorial race. Machogu and his running mate Ogamba lost to current governor Simba Arati, Machogu-Ogamba ran on a UDA party ticket.

With nearly 30 years of practice, the lawyer also vied for the Kitutu Chache North parliamentary seat in the 2017 election. In March 2023, he was appointed chairman of the Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC Board, taking over from the former Chief of Defence Forces, Samson Mwathethe.

He has been in private practice, counseling a wide variety of clients in connection with numerous industry sectors. Ogamba is an aggressive and visionary legal practitioner who excels in legal research, drafting documents, and representing clients before both criminal and civil courts.

Educationally, Ogamba has a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Nairobi, a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law, and a Diploma in Law from the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies at the University of London. He is a senior partner at Migos-Ogamba & Waudo Advocates, a Commissioner for Oaths, Notary Public, and a member of the Kenya Law Society.

Ogamba’s nomination is a pointer to his rich legal background and commitment to public service. His appointment to the Ministry of Education would definitely provide legal expertise and visionary leadership at the frontline in Kenya’s educational reforms.
