Kaiti Constituency MP Joshua Kimilu has set aside Ksh68 million to cater to students within his constituency. MP Kimilu made a cheque presentation to principals of various institutions in the area during an event at Mukuyuni NGCDF offices.
In his speech, Kimilu demanded transparency and accountability. Principals are supposed to indicate all the beneficiaries on the notice board, provide them with receipts to ensure clarity and fairness in the distribution process.
Kimilu faulted the National Government for delaying the disbursement of funds to NGCDF, which was well overdue and thus inconveniencing the launching of bursaries to students across the region. He also urged the national government to ensure timely disbursement of capitation to schools in order to facilitate smooth operations.
“Principals are struggling to run schools. We should be considerate and avoid overloading them as they manage these institutions,” said Kimilu.
He pointed out that all the applicants were awarded bursaries regardless of how their parents voted, thus ensuring no deserving student was denied financial support. The bursary allocation also reached university and college students, who got some relief needed towards their education.
