KEF is hosting a week-long training program for scores of the scholarship beneficiaries who have completed their education in various institutions. The training is meant to arm graduates with tools on how to navigate the exciting yet challenging transition into the next phase of life.
The week-long intensive program will cover a varied number of topics relating to financial literacy, CV writing, interviewing skills, governance and leadership, negotiation skills, communication skills, and the most important aspect—stress management. According to KEF Country Director Francis Ng’ang’a, “We believe in investing in the holistic development of our scholars at KEF. The workshop goes beyond academics to provide graduates with necessary life skills for university, the workplace, and community.”.
KEF is a non-profit organization that offers bright, underprivileged students in Kenya a chance to further their education through scholarships. So far, KEF has empowered over 4,500 students to overcome the cycle of poverty, achieve their potential to the fullest. The training program over the past 11 years and mentorship from older KEF alumni have been instrumental in helping the graduates make informed decisions about their futures and career choices.
It prepares them with the skills to excel in the chosen fields and to become responsible people who will make positive contributions to the global community. KEF is also considering taking good care of the mental well-being of its students, seeing that this aspect of their development is tended to and fostered.
KEF encourages the youth who have completed their secondary education to take advantage of many opportunities available, including TVET programmes, scholarships, and other global opportunities. It is through such initiatives as this workshop that KEF seeks to be the forerunner in securing a better future for the less privileged youth in Kenya by raising a generation that is all-round, able, and assured of itself in taking on the rest of the world.
