Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) Directs 2022 KCSE Candidates to Collect Certificates

The Kenya National Examination Council has announced that all students who sat the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams are now free to collect their certificates. According to the council, candidates will get their verified certificates through their respective educational institutions.

Collection Process

KNEC has dispatched the certificates to schools via their respective Sub-County Directors of Education which can be collected by private candidates and principals of Secondary Schools. Candidates and parents/guardians are hereby encouraged to collect as soon as possible.

KNEC explained on X, “The 2022 KCSE examination certificates for all the eligible candidates have been dispatched to schools through the respective sub-county director of education offices. Candidates and parents/guardians are requested to collect the certificates in their institutions at the earliest opportunity.

Submission of Queries

Questions on examination results or certificates should be handled through the Query Management Information System online within 30 days from the dispatch of the certificate. The processing of queries on submission is pegged at a non-refundable fee of Kshs. 5,000.00 payable via a Paybill number, which shall be provided by QMIS upon successful verification of the application. KNEC shall not accept any certificate queries in hard copy.

Detailed Inspection Upon Receipt

The following should be checked by candidates for accuracy and completeness after the certificate is received.

  1. Accuracy of Details:
    • Centre Name and Candidate’s Names: The names must be spelt right and the same as during registration.
    • School Code: Verify that the school code indicated is correct.
    • Candidate’s Gender: Check that the gender mentioned therein agrees with your information.
  2. Quality of Printing:
    • There must not be any smudged or faded print on the certificate, and in general, it should look good in appearance.
  3. Embossing of Hologram and Photograph:
    • Check that the candidate’s passport-size photograph and hologram on the certificate are similar to that submitted during registration.
  4. Number of Certificates Delivered:
    • Countercheck and ascertain that the number of certificates delivered agrees to the checklist provided for each examination centre for all qualifying candidates. Any discrepancy should be noted in the Acknowledgement form and forward the same to KNEC through the Sub-County Directors of Education offices.

Statistics

During the KCSE 2022, a total of 881,416 candidates sat for an examination. Of the total, there were 443,644 males and 437,772 females, which represents 50.33 percent and 49.69 percent of the candidature, respectively.
