Kenyan Schools to Celebrate National Tree Planting Day on May 17th

The Principle Secretary (PS) for Basic Education, Belio Kipsang, has announced that Friday May 17 will be a day dedicated to tree planting in all schools in Kenya.

The PS said that the school heads will make sure learners and staff take part in this exercise.

The day set aside for this exercise will not only be about planting trees, but also spreading knowledge about conservation and how significant forests are for keeping the environment alive.

This is a guideline from the Ministry of Education (MoE) before the basic education institutions reopens for second term. The purpose of these guidelines is to make sure that safety and health of students, as well as staff members, are given first priority while schools open again in an orderly manner.
