Kenyan Teachers to Fly the Flag High in the US

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has challenged Kenyan teachers set to travel to the US for an international assignment to go and raise their motherland’s flag high. While hosting a sendoff ceremony for over 60 teachers on Monday, Mudavadi said each one of them would play a very crucial role as ambassadors of Kenya.

“As you set out into this, remember that each one of you is an ambassador of the values and aspirations of Kenya. Your triumph in the international field not only benefits you as a person but also raises the standards of Kenyan education worldwide,” Mudavadi said.

He assured the teachers and the larger Kenyan diaspora that the government was committed to protecting their rights and well-being abroad. He said this, in any case, remained consistent with the government’s plan to integrate their contributions into national development.

He called upon all the teachers and other Kenyans who work abroad to uphold virtues such as discipline, focus, and hard work. Mudavadi, however, indicated that Kenya had earned a good reputation all over the world due to the competence and reliability of its citizens who work abroad.

“Comparatively, there is a tendency for Kenyans to be the favorites, and we need to cement this good gesture when we get opportunities to work outside our country,” Mudavadi observed. “You will, in equal measure, affirm the government’s commitment, through the impetus of the Bottom-up Economic and Transformation Agenda, in opening up more quality opportunities here at home and abroad for our people, especially the youth.”

He also warned them against the high costs of breaking the law in foreign countries, urging them to strictly observe the ethics and codes of conduct in the countries that hosted them.

Mudavadi concluded his speech by praising the teachers as symbols of an unrelenting Kenyan spirit, instilling pride and confidence in the potential of the nation to make a difference globally.
