KNEC Announces Training for KCSE Examiners Starting August 18, 2024

Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has opened a window for training its KCSE examiners from August 18th to 24th, 2024. The target for training will be secondary school teachers who wish to become examiners in the varied subjects that receive candidates for examinations during the series of the year.

The training fee is pegged at Ksh 10,500, and payment will be advised to the applicants who will have been shortlisted through SMS and the KNEC web portal. The training will take place on a residential basis, and the venue for the qualified candidates will be communicated.

1.0 Subject Areas for Training

Applications are hereby invited from teachers to undergo training as examiners for the following papers:

  • English (Functional Skills) – 101/1
  • English (Comprehension, Literary Appreciation and Grammar) – 101/2
  • English (Creative Composition and Insha based on Set Texts) – 101/3
  • Chemistry – 233/2, 233/3
  • Christian Religious Education – 313/1, 313/2
  • German – 502/1, 502/2
  • Music – 511/2, 511/3

2.0 Criteria for Training as an Examiner

One shall be eligible for training by meeting the following requirement :

  • Should be a practicing teacher in the relevant subject.
  • Should be registered and employed by the Teachers Service Commission.
  • Diploma in Education or its equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years working experience.
  • Not be under interdiction or any disciplinary action by TSC.
  • Must have recommendation by the Principal/Head of the institution.
  • Be aged 50 years and below.

3.0 Application Procedure

Interested teachers are required to apply through the KNEC examiners platform:

  1. Access the portal at https://examinersapp.knec.ac.ke.
  2. After opening the link, already existing password of the CP2 platform is used to log in or reset through the mobile number.
  3. For a new applicant, register with the portal as per the guidance on the portal.
  4. Fill personal profile and save, then proceed to application for training and select from the listed vacancies.

Because of constraint training spaces, the selection will be on the basis of only those teachers that meet all the shortlisting criteria and will have submitted all the required documents.

The training is a critical step in trying to make sure that examiners are well prepared to do a credible job of being able to administer KCSE examinations.
