In a highly explosive football match, highly anticipated in the Nyanza Region Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) games, Kodero Bara from Migori and Agoro Sare from Siaya settled for a 0-0 draw. In the process, it also ended up eliminating Kisumu Day Secondary from the championships.
The match was played at Cardinal Otunga Mosocho with Kisii County. So many displays of strong mechanism in defense were witnessed from both Kodero Bara and Agoro Sare; thus, little shots on target and corners were created. The same score has set both the teams for the semi-finals.
Kisumu Day Secondary had to win the match at Agoro Sare to make it to the semi-final stage. Yesterday, Kisumu Day suffered a 1-2 defeat to Kodero Bara in what followed as a decider for the fates retained in today’s game. However, Agoro Sare’s pragmatic notion of playing out their match for a draw meant they escaped a potentially final match against Kisumu Day, at the latter’s expense.
Later on in the day, Agoro Sare will face Tonga of Homa Bay County in the first semi-final. The second semi-final will be between Kodero Bara and Ambira High from Siaya. Both matches carry pride, dignity, and flamboyance, for only the top awaits the final.
Today’s strategic draw between Kodero Bara and Agoro Sare may bring déjà vu. In recent Kakamega county games, Kakamega Boys needed Musingu High to beat underdogs Chebuyusi of Navakholo Sub-County by a 2-0 margin after the boys from the lakeside town drew goalless with rivals Koyonzo to advance. The match ended 0-0 and consequently Kakamega Boys exited, with Musingu later winning the boys’ football 3-1, beating Munyuki Secondary of Lugari Sub-County in the final.
