In a thrilling encounter that was held at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu, Koderobara High School from Migori County emerged as the new champions in the Nyanza Region soccer. This was after forcing a tight 2-1 win over Matutu PAG High School from Nyamira County to stamp their authority as the number one football team in the region.
A Hard-Fought Victory
The intense match saw both teams display exceptional skill and determination where as expected Koderobara’s win did not come easy; all the goals were well deserved showcasing strategic playing and team work. Though putting up a spirited and strong defense, Matutu PAG could not match the offense from Koderobara.
Change of Venue Due to Safety Concerns
Although the match was first projected to go down at Cardinal Otunga High School in Kisii County, the venue had been changed to Moi Stadium in Kisumu. It is after an incident where some rowdy fans invaded the pitch during an earlier game and left some players and officials nursing injuries. The change ensured a safer environment for the players and officials to compete.
Looking Ahead to National Championships
As a result of emerging winners in the regional level, Koderobara High will have its team represent Nyanza region in the national championships. They will compete with other winners from different regions vying for the ultimate prize of getting their school named as national champions.
