Term Two Nationals KSSSA games begins on Sunday, 4th August 2024, in Kisii County. Various sporting vents will be hosted in the following venues; Gusii Stadium, Kisii School, and Cardinal Otunga Mosocho High School.
KSSSA President Kipchumba Maiyo, flanked by Nyanza Regional Director of Education RDE Lawrence Karuntimi, Kisii County Director of Education CDE Philip Chirchir, Kisii County KESSHA chairperson Joyce Orioki, and Sports Secretary Tom Odhiambo, confirmed that all venues are ready for the competitions. “We have inspected all facilities and are satisfied with their preparations,” said Maiyo. The officials have trained referees, umpires, and first aiders in readiness to ensure a smooth competition.
Most schools were headed to Kisii County, said Odhiambo, adding that the clinic for the referees in rugby and basketball would be held today due to a delay by the officials. Orioki, the principal of Nyabururu Girls National School, affirmed that they had adequate accommodation for the female participants from August 4 to 8. “We have enough dormitories, water, and security for our girls, and I expect them to maintain their discipline,” she said.
Excited by the prospect of hosting the event, Chirchir called upon residents to accord good reception to visitors. He lauded Governor Simba Arati for efforts in liaising with the Ministry of Education. Kisii County Police Commander Charles Keses assured the public that they are guaranteed security during the event and cautioned drivers and bodaboda riders to be careful on the roads.
