KUCCPS Inter-Institution Transfer Applications: A Step-by-Step Guide

The Kenya University and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened its portal for inter-institution transfer applications for those studying the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) to switch to their most preferred institution. The portal has already opened and closes after 30 days on July 4, 2024.

Eligibility and Application Process

For any applicant to be considered for a transfer, they must be enrolled in the program they wish to transfer from. They must also meet the relevant cut-off marks for the course they wish to transfer to.

Steps to Apply for Inter-Institution Transfer

Visit the KUCCPS Portal:

  • Log onto the KUCCPS website.
  • Move to the inter-institution transfer section.
  • Key in your KCSE Year, KCSE Index Number and password.
  • If you are using the system for the first time, use your birth certificate or KCPE number (as used in KCSE registration) as the password.

Select Desired Institution and Course:

  • Browse through the list of available institutions and courses.
  • Ensure you have attained the cut-off marks for your desired course prior to application.

Submit Application:

  • Applicants should fill in the appropriate application forms available on the portal.
  • Once you are done, confirm and submit your application.

Important Notes

  • Application Deadline: Make sure that your application is received on time before July 4, 2024.
  • Transfer Criteria: One must be enrolled in the program that the applicant is currently in but wishes to be transferred from.

Context and Recent Developments

This statement follows the directive given by the National Assembly Education Committee on the Ministry of Education to withdraw all university admission letters due to what they termed as potential irregularities in fees charged to students. This is because the Ministry had allegedly charged all students the full cost of the program under the new funding model, irrespective of classification.

Final Remarks

KUCCPS has made inter-institution transfers simple to enable students to make the necessary changes in their studies without much strain. Students are urged to take this opportunity to transfer to their institutions of choice, as long as they qualify for the programs that are being offered.
