KUSNET Directs Members to Report to Work as TSC Agrees to Implement CBA

KUSNET has instructed its membership to go back to work Monday, August 29, 2024, when schools open for the third term. This is following the TSC’s commitment to fully implementing the amended 2021-2025 CBA second phase.

In a statement to Education News after a meeting with TSC, KUSNET Secretary-General James Torome said the commission has agreed to the second phase of the CBA in arrears, which had been a key demand of the unions.

The TSC had earlier called for a meeting between it and representatives from the Kenya National Union of Teachers, Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers, and KUSNET at the Kenya School of Government. This was after a last-ditch effort by the TSC to avert a nationwide teachers’ strike that was to begin on Monday.

Now that the TSC is committed to implementing the CBA agreement, it is highly likely that the strike be called off to ensure a term one opening without chaos.
