The governor took the opportunity to declare the Naiborom ECDE Centre officially open, which came as an oportunity for the locals. The new classroom was a product of joint operations between the Guernsey Overseas Aid and Development Commission and the County Government of Laikipia. It intends to provide a learning environment which is in line with the Competency-Based Curriculum.

“This classroom is as a result of the partnership between the Guernsey Overseas Aid and Development Commission and the Laikipia County Government,” Governor Irungu mentioned. “This will help learners and teachers interact effectively as required by the CBC.”

Besides the new classroom, the County Government also awarded a 10 000-litre capacity water tank to help alleviate the acute shortage of water in the area. So far, it has eased a critical problem caused by a shortage of water to the school and its surrounding communities.

Present at the function were key county officers, including the County Executive Committee Member for Education Stephen Kisorio and the Finance Chief Officer Daniel Ngumi. The involvement of these officials underpinned the commitment of the county government in improving the infrastructure and resources in terms of education.
