The Ministry of Education announced massive reshuffles of Sub-County Directors of Education across the country. According to sources at Jogoo House, a good number of SCDEs had overstayed at their current working stations and hence needed new assignments for fresh challenges.
Key Transfers and Replacements
Among the notable changes:
- Mburuku Samson, Nyahururu SCDE, is transferred to Tetu in Nyeri County to take the place of Gitonga Ndeke, now posted to Laikipia Central.
- Limuru’s James Murage of Kiambu County is transferred to take the place of Mburuku in Nyahururu.
- Joel Murage of Laikipia Central is posted to Kinangop of Nyandarua County.
- Peter Ng’ang’a, who was serving as the Kinangop SCDE, is transferred to Khwisero in Kakamega County and takes the place of Genetrix Amatha, who is transferred to Bunyala, Busia County.
- Cosmas Wanjala is transferred to Nambale in Busia County from Suba Sub-County, Homabay County. His predecessor, Sarah Osundwa, takes his place to serve at Bumula in Bungoma County, where she takes the place of the retired Ezra Odondi Jonah.
Other Transfers
- Emily Isiye, Gucha South SCDE, is transferred to Cheptais in Bungoma County for replacement by one Were Odunga Erick, who is transferred to Karachuonyo North in Homabay County. Isiye is replaced at Gucha South by one Vincent Onyango.
- Juma Leo of Borabu in Nyamira County is moved to Navakholo in Kakamega County to replace one Joan Isigi, who is transferred to Lugari Sub-county. Margaret Igwatai is moved from Lugari to take over Nyakach in Kisumu County.
- George Ouma, the SCDE of Kenyenya, is transferred to Borabu in Nyamira County to replace Juma Leo. An education officer promoted to SCDE, Dr. Grace Obuya, takes the place of Ouma.
- Dorcas Simiyu of Luanda in Vihiga County is transferred to Trans-Nzoia East to replace Thomas Mukabi, who is dispatched to a sub-county in Baringo County. Charles Anyika from Belgut, Kericho County, will take over from Simiyu in Luanda.
Future Changes and Promotions
A lot more change is still expected to hit the department since those nearing retirement include regional and county directors. Not so long ago, the MoE promoted all its field officers to boost morale and performance.
This change of strategic moves is meant to give the SCDE new challenges to improve the administration of education in the country, and raise the level of service delivery.
