Construction for a modern tuition block at St Cecilia Girls High School in Mautuma, Lugari Constituency in Kakamega County has kicked off, helped by the initiative of the local Legislator, Nabii Nabwera. During the inauguration, Nabwera also commissioned a completed twin laboratory constructed at the same institution with Constituency Development Fund money. He said that the new state-of-the-art tuition block was going to reduce pressure on the existing infrastructure in the school.
Nabwera has praised the new facilities as a way to allow students adequate time to practice science practically and, therefore, enrich their learning. He further reassured his commitment and that of other concerned parties to ensure the learning environment continued improving so that pupils in that area may benefit from better education facilities.
He called on the students at the inauguration, “Education is the great leveler, and this is a fact. And that’s why so much is invested in education—it’s securing the future.”
He added that St Cecilia Girls High School has had a formidable rise in the number of students enrolled, particularly from Lugari Constituency, thanks to the rising number of quality grades it has achieved. The MP further challenged the parents and the entire guardians in that region to ensure that no child drops out of school but is allowed ample time in school, saying education was key to the community’s future.
