The Muhoroni NGCDF has set aside funds to support education by awarding over Ksh15.7 million as bursaries to bright but needy students attending various universities and colleges of in the country. The bursary kitty is mean’t to ensure that all students get access to quality education despite their different backgrounds.
The awarding event was presided over by Sospeter Ngere who is the current Muhoroni NGCDF manager, who handed over cheques during a ceremony held at Nyangoma/Masogo Ward. Accompanied by CDF chairman Bernard Del, Ngere emphasized that the funds had already been disbursed to different learning institutions.
He added that beneficiaries were competitively selected from among hundreds of applications, thus ensuring that only the most deserving students benefited. The fact that beneficiaries went through a stringent competitive selection process underscores the commitment to making education accessible equitably.
Ngere reiterated the institution’s commitment to ensuring fair access to education for all students, regardless of their financial backgrounds. He observed that students pursuing courses in Engineering, Medicine, and Architecture were fully catered for and encouraged more students to enroll in such courses.
“We will ensure that all students, irrespective of their background, can access quality education. Those taking Engineering, Medicine, and Architecture are fully sponsored to more enrollment,” Ngere said.
Ngere revealed that they were keeping a close eye on the performance of those students who had been offered the bursary. This he stated will ensured funds are well utilized by students and are optimizing the opportunities.
In any case, Ngere announced that the establishment of Muhoroni TTI would see it constructed at Ksh80 million. The institute would further give technical and vocational education in the region more muscle to encourage more local students to get tertiary skills.
The event was attended by George Ombok the chairman of the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association Muhoroni branch. Mr Ombok praised the area MP and the NGCDF team for continued support to education. He commended the bursary model saying that it had an excellent way of dispensation and should be emulated by other constituencies.
“I laud the MP and his NGCDF team for being steadfast in supporting education. This is a splendid model of bursary to be emulated by other constituencies,” Ombok said.
He also lauded the commitment of the MP to sponsoring students and elevating education standards in Muhoroni, evidenced by the huge financial support given to students and future plans to further educational development.
