Musingu High School Receives Major Boost Ahead of East Africa Games

Musingu High School, the national boy’s football runners-up, has received a boost from KCB as they prepare to defend the title in the forthcoming Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association competition in Mbale, Uganda. The team, otherwise known as the Scorpions, benefited by getting new training equipment and kits that enhanced their readiness for the upcoming tournament.

Musingu High pools in Pool B, where they are pitted against St Julian High of Uganda, Amus College School of Uganda, APE Rugunga of Burundi, and Kalangala Secondary of Tanzania. The head coach of the team, Brendan Mwinamo, expressed confidence in their preparation and added that they had been training under very difficult conditions to build their stamina and working on their weak points, both in offense and in defense.

The team is set to leave for Uganda after attending a 10-day training camp in their school where other Kenyan teams preparing for the week-long competition have also pitched camp. Of importance, this long-term partnership of over Sh1.5 million financial support towards school fees for the student footballers, football equipment, and jerseys is a one-year deal with the school.

Musingu High’s Chief Principal, Bernard Lukuya, heaped praises on the support from KCB, which he noted is among the key pillars in boosting sporting and education activities. To him, this relationship does a lot in terms of building talents as well as academic lives, thus hopes in the current team’s outstanding performance in Uganda are rife.

Other disciplines represented in the FEASSA games, besides football, include basketball—in the format for 3X3 and normal-sized—netball, rugby in 7’s and 15’s version, and handball. Other sporting activities that will be featured in the competition are athletics, swimming, tennis, volleyball, table tennis, and badminton.
