Musingu High School’s Coach Confident After 4-0 Victory at East Africa Secondary School Games

Musingu High School coach Brendan Mwinamo was left satisfied after his side humbled Tanzania’s Kakungulu 4-0 to advance to the final of the ongoing East Africa Secondary School Games in Mbale and Bukedea, Uganda. Polestine Okoth led the assault, followed by Valentine Isalambo, to give Musingu its first regional championship win.

On his part, Mwinamo reflected on the progress of the team: “We drew 2-2 in the opening game against Amus College; that was the toughest game in the pool. My focus is now on the next game. We are taking it one game at a time, and we still believe we are in the hunt for the trophy.”

A similar fate was replicated a few hours later by the Kenya champions, Highway, who returned to the contest with a 2-0 win against Tanzania’s Benjamin Mkapa High School, thanks to an opening goal from Humphrey Aroko and another one from Peter Mutua. St Joseph’s Kitale was forced into a barren draw by Bukedea Comprehensive School.

But in the girls’ category, St Joseph’s Kitale denied Tanzania’s Tanzanite Girls in a 2-0 result. Goals by Abigael Walubengo were sufficient for St Joseph’s Kitale. Butere Girls also won 2-0 against Rines from Uganda with Valencia Angela and Yvonne Adhiambo scoring.

In girls’ handball, Moi Girls Kamusinga thrashed Kawanda of Uganda 20-14 while Tanzania’s Kilombero overcame Kenya’s Murinduko 20-15. In boys’ handball, Kimilili went down 23-20 to Wampewo of Uganda as Saniak also went down 24-22 to Bombo Army of Uganda. Hospital Hill narrowly managed to draw with Tanzania’s Mbogo Mixed 24-24.

In boys’ volleyball, Bukedea Comprehensive School posted a 3-0 victory over Kenya’s Hospital Hill, as reigning champions Namwela saw off Tanzania’s Bugobwa 3-1. In the girls category, Kwanthanze Girls stayed unbeaten, thanks to the 3-0 win over St. Alloys and had earlier dismissed Seroma Christian School also in straight sets.
