North Eastern Teams Set to Shine at National School Games

North Eastern schools that are set to take part in school games hosted in Kisii County representing the region are Takaba Boys High, Garissa High, and Chief Adano Girls High. They emerged victorious at the provincial level in football, boys’ volleyball, and girls’ volleyball respectively.

Other winners included Sheikh Ali High School, which won the boys’ category in basketball, with Hon Diriye Amin emerging victorious in the girls’ category. Chief Adano Girls High School also bagged the trophy in netball.

Mr. Mummad Farah, the KSSSA North Eastern regional chairman, thanked Siyad Foundation and the Ministry of Education for their support. “We really appreciate the support from Siyad Foundation and the Ministry of Education, which has been very instrumental in making sure these regional games are a success,” Farah said.

He noted the importance of participating in nationals, which increased the region’s talent as well as dedication from the schools. Flying the North Eastern flag high, these teams are set to compete on a national stage, showcasing the region’s commitment to excellence in sports and education,” Farah added.

During the regional games in Mandera, Siyad Foundation donated uniforms, trophies, a public address system, and individual awards for players. Its Chief Executive Officer, Siyad Abdalla Hassan, had to underline their mission of providing support and nurturing talent in sports for peace and cohesion promotion.

This would bear positively on the foundation’s main objective, Hassan observed, to ensure that radicalization was dealt with through the constructive engagement of the youth in sports. As a matter of fact, the foundation has sponsored school games before, including the earlier sponsorship of the Wajir East games—a clear indication of continued commitment toward talent development in athletics and creative channels among the youth.

Moreover, Siyad Foundation has sponsored other various tournaments within Wajir, Garissa, and Mandera counties, having a far-reaching effect on a considerable number of local communities by providing an enabling environment that offered many opportunities to young athletes to practice their skills and build up their capacity in constructive activities.

With these teams preparing for the national stage in Kisii, it marks an important milestone for a region so highly praised for its devotion to sports and education. This therefore illustrates a great opportunity for the budding athletes to prove their prowess and efforts.
