Nyabondo High took the volleyball title for boys at the Nyanza Regional School Games after thrashing Sagegi Mixed. The final fixture that went down at Cardinal Otunga High in Mosocho saw Nyabondo take a clear 3-0 win with set scores 25-19, 25-19, and 25-25.
In the semis, Nyabondo edged Kisii County’s Nyabisia 3-1, while Sagegi booked a ticket to the finals following a pulsating 3-2 win over Gogo Mixed. The win was a sure demonstration of Nyabondo’s supremacy in the region.
Girls’ Volleyball Championship
The girls’ volleyball was won by Nyakongo, who trounced Ogande 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-20). Nyakongo booked a ticket to the finals following an exhilarating semis contest against reigning champions Nyakach, emerging victorious 3-2. Ogande booked a slot in the final after beating Nyakembene in straight sets.
Basketball Highlights
Onjiko School defended their boys’ 3×3 basketball title after scoring 15-11 against Sawagongo. Maseno School took the third position after winning 21-16 against Ambira. Onjiko had beaten Ambira 15-8 to reach the final, while Sawagongo came after winning against Maseno with a score of 20-8.
Ng’iya dethroned Nyakach in the girls’ 3×3 basketball after taking the title with a 10-6 victory. Tuk Jowi Girls took third place after outclassing St Barnabas 10-6. In the semis, Ng’iya thrashed St Barnabas 14-7 while Nyakach sneaked past Tuk Jowi in a tight contest, winning 17-15.
Netball Championship
Oyugi Ogango defended their netball title with a comprehensive 63-25 win over arch-rivals Nyakach Girls in the final played at Kisii School. Lambwe took third place with a 37-27 win over Nyango.
Girls’ Football
In girls’ football, newcomers Alara from Homa Bay County won their first regional title with a surprise 2-1 win over pre-finals favorites Nyakach Girls.
Boys’ Football Final Pending
The final for the boys’ football is set to be contested between Matutu Pag and Koderobara. The second semi-final between Matutu Pag and Agoro Sare was abandoned with Matutu leading 2-0. Koderobara booked a ticket to the final following their 2-0 win over Ambira.
