Nyamira County Boys’ Football Final Postponed Following Appeals

The much-anticipated Nyamira County boys’ football final, meant to determine regional championship representatives, has been postponed after the losing semi-finalists lodged appeals. This was in a match pitting St Paul’s Gekano High against Nyaibasa and set to take place at Kiendege Secondary School.

Appeals and Controversies

The final was called off following a protest by the losing semi-finalists who claimed that the finalists used ineligible players. As a result, the Nyamira County Secondary Schools Sports Association resolved that the final will not go ahead until the appeal is heard and determined. According to Hesborn Okerio, the association’s secretary, next week the appeal is set to be resolved and therefore it will scum оконч to the final.

Semi-Finals Results

At the semi-finals, Nyaibasa edged last year’s winners, Matutu PAG, 4-3 in post-match penalties after regular and extra-time ended in a goalless draw. In the other semi-final, St Paul’s Gekano managed to see off Gekendo 1-0.
