Nyandarua County Leaders Urged to Support Scholarships for Needy Students

Leaders in Nyandarua County are being urged to provide more academic scholarship opportunities to ensure that students struggling financially can continue their education. Phillip Wambua who is the Nyandarua County Director of Education, highlighted the large number of students in the area with a strong desire for education but who are unable to pursue their dreams due to financial limitations.

Speaking from his office in Ol Kalou town, Wambua encouraged MPs and county governments to keep helping the less fortunate students by raising the fund for scholarships for needy students. According to Wambua, this will assist them to focus more on their studies.

Wambua, who is a current Member of Parliament from Nyandarua County, has asked his fellow Members of Parliament and the county government to provide scholarships for students in need. He added that with the opportunities, they can continue their learning without any problems. He also encouraged those who would benefit from these scholarships to reciprocate by working hard and urged parents to fulfill their roles as providers.

Wambua also addressed school heads, instructing them to monitor the delivery of curriculum in their schools, making sure that all teachers make good use of the resources for students.

Finally, he addressed the need to recover lost learning time due to recent floods. “School heads are responsible for ensuring the curriculum is covered to compensate for the first two weeks of this term that were disrupted by the floods,” Wambua stated. He concluded by underlining the importance of school heads maintaining consistent presence within their institutions.
