Over 1800 ECDE Teachers in West Pokot County Benefit from ICT Training

In a step towards improving Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE), more than 1800 teachers from West Pokot County took part in a week long training session at the Tegla Loroupe Multi Purpose Hall. The training which was led by the EIDU and TAYARI programs aimed at enhancing teaching skills by in incorporating Information Communication Technology (ICT) to make learning more interactive and efficient.

The training program was opened by ECDE Director Joseph Tonyirwo, who stressed the importance of embracing initiatives like EIDU and TAYARI to stay relevant in todays changing environment. Tonyirwo underlined the significance of quality education, accessibility and equity urging teachers to approach the training with seriousness to bridge the gap between developing countries and developed nations.

Tonyirwo highlighted that EIDU seeks to create opportunities worldwide by facilitating collaboration among stakeholders on an equal basis simplifying education complexities. He elaborated on how TAYARI focuses on having prepared tutors entering classrooms with experience and up to date content integrated with ICT. This strategy ensures that educators are not just knowledgeable but also skilled, at utilizing technology for learning outcomes.

Under the guidance of instructor Sarah Chebet, the program centered around a tech driven platform that combines teaching strategies into a system accessible, to educators, students and other stakeholders in education. Chebet elaborated that the training, backed by the Children Investment Fund Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Education and local governments aims to create an meaningful learning experience.

Teachers who participated in the program expressed appreciation for the ICT tools provided highlighting how these resources have transformed their teaching methods for subjects like Math and Language. They mentioned that the training will greatly simplify the learning journey for students addressing issues such as reading challenges

Moreover this initiative enables monitoring of educational indicators including student progress, teacher attendance and assessment data. This digital system empowers officials to track outcomes without physical visits, to institutions thereby improving efficiency and transparency.
