Relief as Government Disburses Second Term Capitation to Schools

According to sources, from the Ministry of Education whom we spoke to today it has been confirmed that the funds were released yesterday and are expected to show up in schools accounts starting today.

The total amount distributed to schools for this term’s capitation is estimated to be around Ksh30 billion.

Willie Kuria, the acting National Chairman of the Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA) and also the Principal of Murang’a High School mentioned that he has received information about this but is still verifying if it has been credited to his schools account.

Willie Mwangi Kuria, the Principal of Murang’a High School and also the National Chairman of KESSHA sees this as a support for schools since many school heads have been expressing concerns about capitation leading some to operate on credit while others consider sending students for half term break earlier than scheduled for next Monday.

During the launch of the fourth National Education Sector Strategic Plan 2023 27 this month Machogu assured that schools would receive their capitation before June ends.

Typically, the government disburses capitation funds to schools in three installments; 50% for term 30% for term and 20%, for third term.
