Surge in Candidates as HRMPEB Commences Certified Human Resource Professionals (CHRP) Exams

The Human Resource Management Professionals Examinations Board (HRMPEB) is this week revving off this year’s papers for Certified Human Resource Professionals (CHRP) with over 1,500 entrants. Exams got underway on the 12th of June, 2024. These exams are symbolic of the new interest in the HR practice in Kenya emanating from new job opportunities and recognition by The Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).

Growth and Commitment to HR Excellence

HRMPEB Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Margaret Nguu said the overwhelming response in the number of candidates turning up for the exams has roots in the keenness of the board to sharpen HR expertise and increasing demand for professional qualifications in human resources. “Over the years, the number of candidates has grown, showcasing a rising interest in professional HR qualifications. In response to this growth, we have expanded our network of examination centres, ensuring greater accessibility for candidates across the country,” she said.

Examination Centers and Schedule

The CHRP exams are being held in seven centers which include Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Eldoret, Thika, Kisumu, and Nanyuki. The expansion efforts are expected to increase the number of candidates as well as make the exams accessible throughout the country. This comes as a result of the increasing number of candidates interested in the certification. Exams will run from June 11 to June 19, 2024, and will cater for both private and institutional candidates.

HRMPEB’s Role and Vision

HRMPEB stays committed to developing and certifying competent HR professionals that meet the highest standards in education and assessment “We are committed to providing our continued efforts to ensure the HR practitioners receive the right knowledge, skills, and competence to flourish in practice and contribute to organizations,” added Nguu.

Since its inception in 2017, the CHRP exam has become a cornerstone for aspiring HR professionals, with the ongoing exams marking the 15th cycle. The consistent increase in candidates underscores the vital role that HR certification plays in career advancement and organizational development.
