The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has given the conditions for promoting teachers from Grade C1 to C2 . TSC is a Constitutional Commission as per Article 237 (1) of the Constitution mandated to look after career growth of teachers by following Career Progression Guidelines for Teachers.

Promotion Requirements (C1 to C2)
The following documents are required for promotion from Grade C1 to C2:
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)
- Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
- Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
- Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
- Clearance Certificate from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)

The TSC is advertising two promotion opportunities:
Advert No. 61/2023 (C1-C2): Senior Teacher II (Regular Primary School) – T-Scale 7 (10,819 Posts)
Requirements:
- A minimum of three years of experience as a Primary Teacher
- T-Scale 6 qualification
- Satisfactory performance appraisal rating
- Compliance with Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution
- Any additional requirements set by the Commission
- Eligible candidates include those serving in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) and Hard-to-Staff counties, with a minimum of two years in their current grade.
Advert No. 62/2023 (C1-C2): Senior Teacher II (SNE Primary School) – T-Scale 7 (700 Posts)
Requirements:
- At least three years of experience as a Primary Teacher I (T-Scale 6)
- Diploma in Special Needs Education (in the area of specialty)
- Satisfactory performance appraisal rating
- Meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.
- Meet any other requirement the Commission may deem necessary.
