TSC Announces Criteria for Promoting Teachers from Grade C1 to C2

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has outlined the criteria for advancing teachers from Grade C1 to C2. As a Constitutional Commission mandated by Article 237(1) of the Constitution the TSC is entrusted with supervising teachers career development in adherence to the Career Progression Guidelines.

Prospective applicants meeting the stipulated qualifications are urged to apply via the TSC portal at www.teachersonline.go.ke. Paper applications will not be accepted. The TSC offers employment opportunities to all Kenyans and in this respect, it’s encouraging persons with disabilities to apply. Successful candidates who will be selected after interviews will have to provide Chapter 6 required documents before their appointment.

The prerequisites for promoting teachers from Grade C1 to C2

  1. A Certificate of Good Conduct issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)
  2. Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
  3. Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
  4. Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
  5. Clearance Certificate from a Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)

There are two advertised promotion positions, each, with specific requirements.

Qualifications for the Position.

  1. Must have served as a Primary Teacher I on T Scale 6 for a minimum of three (3) years.
  2. Should have received a rating in the performance evaluation process.
  3. Must meet the criteria outlined in Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.
  4. Should fulfill any requirements deemed necessary by the Commission.
  5. Candidates from Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) and Hard to Staff counties and have served in their grade for least 2 years are eligible.

Qualifications for the Position.

  • Must have worked as a Primary Teacher I on T Scale 6 for at three (3) years.
  • Should hold at a Diploma, in Special Needs Education (in the specified area of specialization).
  • Must have received a rating in the performance appraisal process.
  • Should meet the requirements stipulated in Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.
  •  Must satisfy any conditions that may be required by the Commission.
