TSC Corrects Salary Discrepancy for Promoted Teachers, Sets New Entry Point at Ksh64,770

The Teachers Service Commission rectified an anomaly in the salary structure that had affected recently promoted teachers from Grade C4 to C5. In an internal memo dated 23rd August 2024, the commission is insisting that the entry point for Grade C5 remains pegged at Ksh 64,770, effective next month. This will see 36,504 teachers benefit who were promoted in the latest promotions.

The memo acknowledged that a few lecturers who were receiving an annual increment for Grade C4  were a little bit shortchanged with the promotion. Their new salaries in Grade C5 posted them Kshs 62,272-62,272 lower than what they were earning initially under Grade C4 at Kshs 64,527.

This saw the TSC instruct its directorate of human resource management and development to amend entry points for affected teachers so that they start at Ksh64,770 a month. The Commission further directed that the teachers affected continue with their incremental months based on the policy at the time of their promotion.

All said and done, all these corrections are due to be completed on September 20, 2024.
