TSC Initiates Replacement of Retiring School Heads in Central Region

The Teachers Service Commission is replacing retiring head teachers in various primary and secondary schools in the Central region. The move will ensure continuity and stability in the affected institutions.

Names of the proposed replacements have been notified, and the new appointees are directed to collect their deployment letters from their respective county offices. Counties impacted by these changes include Laikipia, Nyeri, Murang’a, and Kirinyaga. A good number of school heads retired on June 30, hence the need for TSC to act fast in appointing their successors.

Notable appointments done by TSC in Murang’a County:

  • Ruchu Girls High School: Retiree principal Esther Kariuki will be replaced by Margaret Mutaga from Ng’araria Girls High.
  • Weithaga Boys High School: F M Gakuo will take over from Peter Muchina, who retired on 30th June 2021.
  • Koimbi Boys High School: Peter Gitu from Delmonte Secondary School has been posted to head.

Apart from this, the Teachers Service Commission has posted new principals to various schools in Kandara and Kiharu constituencies to fill up the leadership gaps resulting from retiring heads.

The commission feels that the move was necessitated to be assured of a smooth transition for those school heads, as well as their next-in-line taking over from where they left. A number of other heads in that region have likewise backed up claims of receiving deployment notice letters, an indicator of the broad and systematic replacement strategy by the TSC.
