Six thousand primary school teachers with secondary education degrees can apply for the 6,000 positions made available by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). Applications are due by March 18, 2024.
The TSC aims to facilitate the deployment of Primary Teacher Education (PTE) instructors to junior secondary schools starting next quarter. Qualified educators are encouraged to submit their applications before the deadline.
Requirements for Primary School Teacher Deployment to JSS
The TSC has set specific requirements for primary school teachers seeking deployment to JSS:
- Active TSC Registration: You must be actively registered as a teacher with the Teachers Service Commission.
- Current TSC Employment: You must currently be employed as a primary school teacher under the TSC.
- No Disciplinary Action: You should not be under interdiction or disciplinary proceedings.
- Minimum Qualification:
- A minimum Diploma in Education with a grade of C+ or its equivalent in KCSE, including a C+ in two teaching subjects aligned with the school curriculum.
- OR two principles and one subsidiary pass at “A” Level with at least 8 units each in the two teaching subjects.
- Additional Qualification:
- Teachers possessing a Diploma in Education and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (minimum grade C plain in KCSE or equivalent) are also qualified.
- The Bachelor’s degree must be focused on Education (e.g., Bachelor of Education, not Primary Option).
- Teachers possessing a Diploma in Education and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (minimum grade C plain in KCSE or equivalent) are also qualified.
Documents Required for Verification:
During the verification process, candidates are required to provide the following documents:
- Original and photocopy of the degree/diploma certificate.
- Original and copies of academic transcripts.
- Original and copy of Special Needs Education (SNE) qualification (if applicable).
- Original and copy of KCSE certificate or its equivalent.
- Copy of the current payslip.
- Statement from Institution Head about Teacher’s Current Employment and Nonexistence of Interdiction or Disciplinary Actions.
