TVET@100 Celebrations Culminate at Kabete National Polytechnic

On Monday, July 29, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi formally opened the climax of the TVET@100 celebrations at Kabete National Polytechnic. Mudavadi, who is also the current Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs said, the government through the Ministry of Education, had resolved to position TVET strategically so it can cope well within the unfolding global development characterized by rapid technological changes, demographic shifts, and change in climate.

The three-day event is themed “If Education is the Key to Employability, TVET is the Master Key”, featuring a research conference with panel discussions, paper presentations, and exhibitions. It is set to end on 31 July 2024.

On show are a variety of projects that emerged top in the National TVET fairs from different TVET institutions across the country. A number of development and industry partners supporting the mandate of the State Department are also attending.

The event will culminate with a keynote address by President William Ruto on Wednesday, July 31.

The national celebrations kicked off in March when President William Ruto flagged off the Centenary celebrations with the ‘TVET@100 Torch and Flame’ Relay at Nyeri National Polytechnic, marking 100 years of TVET in the country.

Specific objectives of the celebrations include promotion of increased access to and participation in, TVET; improving the quality and relevance of training; enhancing perception and stakeholder engagement; improved governance and accountability.
